Help with the OMO app and the OMO children's smartwatch.

Contact us

Email hello@omo.technology and we will get back to you as soon as we can, normally within two working days.

To help us help you, please include:

  • what you were trying to do and what happened instead

  • the Watch ID of the watch (shown in the app under Settings)

  • the phone you use (iPhone or Android) and the app version

  • a screenshot, if you can

You can also send us a message from inside the app, to do this:
Open the home screen (the main map), tap the small arrow tab on the right-hand edge to open the side panel, then tap Report a Problem. This sends us the details we need and lets us reply to you there.

Is it an emergency? OMO is not an emergency service. If your child is in danger, call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number.

Getting started

What you need

  • an OMO watch with a working SIM card (the watch uses mobile data, and WiFi when it is in range)

  • the OMO app on your phone, signed in with Apple or Google

Adding your watch

  1. Open the app and sign in.

  2. Tap Add Watch.

  3. Scan the QR code on the watch box, or type in the Watch ID and PIN printed on it.

  4. Give the watch a name and choose a colour and picture.

The watch connects to our servers by itself once it is switched on, charged and has a signal. The first location can take a few minutes to appear.

Common questions

The location is old, or not updating

  • Tap Refresh Location on the home screen. The watch usually answers within a minute.

  • Check the watch is switched on, charged and has a mobile signal. Indoors or in a basement, the signal and the satellites can be weak.

  • To save battery the watch reports its location every 15 minutes when it is still, and more often while it is moving. How often on a trip is your choice: Settings > Tracking detail on a trip (Detailed, Balanced or Battery saver).

  • Indoors the location may be an approximate one, worked out from nearby WiFi networks, and can be off by some distance. Outdoors, with a clear view of the sky, it is much more accurate.

The app says the watch is offline

  • Make sure the watch is charged and switched on.

  • Check the SIM has mobile data and credit or an active plan.

  • Restart the watch (hold the power button) and wait a few minutes.

  • If it is still offline after that, email us with the Watch ID.

The watch is not joining my home WiFi | Open Settings > WiFi in the app to see the networks the watch knows. You can add the home network there and mark it as your home WiFi. The watch only joins 2.4 GHz networks. If the network name or password has changed, add it again.

Safe zones and alerts

  • Add safe zones such as home, school or a grandparent's house under Safe Zones. You are alerted when the watch arrives at or leaves one.

  • Make sure notifications are switched on for OMO in your phone's settings.

  • Arrival and leaving alerts depend on the watch's location, so they can be a few minutes late if the signal is poor.

SOS | When your child holds the SOS button, the watch calls and messages the contacts you chose as SOS contacts (up to three), and the app shows an alert with the last known location. Set the SOS contacts under Settings > Contacts by ticking SOS. Please test it with your child so you both know what to expect.

Calls and messages | The watch can only call and be called by the numbers in its contact list, which you manage in the app. Text messages the watch sends and receives are shown in the app under Messages.

School time (Lockdown Mode) | Set the hours the watch should stay quiet in lessons under Settings > Lockdown Mode. A new schedule starts at 08:00 to 16:00 on weekdays, and you can change it.

Battery | Battery life depends on how often the watch reports its location, the mobile signal, and how much it is used. A watch that is moving a lot, or that is somewhere with a weak signal, uses more. Choosing Battery saver for the trip tracking detail makes it last longer.

Changing the watch's SIM card | Switch the watch off before removing or inserting the SIM. After a change, wait a few minutes for it to reconnect, and check the WiFi setting in the app.

Your account and your data

Signing in | OMO uses Sign in with Apple or Google. We never see your Apple or Google password.

Deleting your account | You can delete your account and the data in it at any time, from inside the app: tap Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account. You can also follow the steps at https://omo.technology/delete-my-account. If you cannot get into the app, email us from the address you signed up with and we will do it for you.

Privacy | We take children's data seriously. How we collect, use and protect it, and how long we keep it, is explained in our Privacy Policy: Privacy Policy.
